There’s still time for the season of love to commence but Kartik Aaryan, aka Veer, and Sara Ali Khan, as Zoe, have already brought them feels with the trailer of their upcoming film, Love Aaj Kal. The romantic drama sees them together for the first time and, sticking rightly to their film’s title, it has everything an Imtiaz Ali fan ever wanted to see. In case you are wondering about the factor we just mentioned, it is filmmaker Imtiaz Ali and his signature pattern of showing at least one commitment-phobic person in all his films. In Love Aaj Kal, it’s Sara Ali Khan, who is seen prioritising her career over Veer. A little back in time, it was Saif Ali Khan in the OG Love Aaj Kal (2009) who wasn’t keen on taking his relationship ahead with Deepika Padukone. The old-school romance, too, reminded us of the original rom-com by Imtiaz. The moment when Zoe says, “Tum mujhe tang karne lage ho,” it took us back to the classic Imtiaz Ali directorial Tamasha, which sees Deepika confronting her feelings to the Ranbir Kapoor, she had never met while their fun in Corsica. Umm, call it similarities of Imtiaz Ali’s vision of love. (SPOILER - The climax of Love Aaj Kal's trailer also makes us wonder whether Khan is hinting at her bisexuality to Kartik)

As for the performances, both Kartik Aaryan and Sara Ali Khan have impressed us to bits in this roller-coaster ride of emotions. No wonder, the two had actually fallen in love while shooting for this film. The music, too, is what we can expect from the dynamic combo of Pritam – Irshad Kamil. Well, then there’s the iconic Aahun Aahun and Twist also in this one. In a nutshell, Love Aaj Kal is Imtiaz Ali’s same wine in a new bottle, albeit with spectacular performances. So, thumbs up from us!
Love Aaj Kal releases on February 14, 2020.
